Post 8 - Brightwing Hearth

Wings and Things

Brightwing was the first flying character creature I've animated in my career. Not only was it my first flying animation, but it was also my first hearth/recall animation on a character for Heroes of the Storm.

It was quite the challenge. I knew from the start that I wanted to throw in a loop into the animation, so because of this, my planning was based on the loop. The hardest part was trying to figure out a nice flight path for Brightwing to take to get there.

She needed to perform a loop and needed the gain the speed and momentum to do said loop from a complete still pose. I was having trouble thumb nailing ideas for it, so I literally shot reference of just my hand in attempts to find the motion I was looking for. My pet dragon at the time wasn't available.
